Oh Autumn. It means so many different things to different people. An ending; summer’s warmth, summer break, no more swimming, less grilling out, putting away the shorts and more. It’s also a beginning; pumpkin and apple season, many American and other holiday seasons, new school years for many, new seasons of shows on TV, cosy season.
Autumn is a transition and one I have always loved. I love the colours, the fashion, the aesthetic, my birthday, and the weather. There’s something so warm and inviting about fall and it’s earthy tones. The crisp sounds, warm drinks by a Bon fire, cosy sweaters and cuddles with a good book.
I love transitions. They signal we are moving forward, changing, growing, and not stagnant. I’ve been putting so much into changing myself so that my 30s will be better than my 20s and a bright new chapter. I’m resetting myself and heading to a new beginning with a new me, changed from the very roots to be who I want to be and a new Spring in my life.
I see people always wanting to jump from Summer to Spring. They want to be new and reborn now, but we need the transition so that it’s a solid foundation we have changed on. We need the time of an Autumn and winter to cultivate, and grow and blossom come spring. And when we do blossom, we’ll be so bright and lovely that the thaw of winter will fade and nothing but a bright future can be seen. The promise of hope that we all need.
