I have a short but meaningful goal list for 2023, so I am using concepts I learned at work. We have found small changes over time lead us to the most impactful and long lasting improvements to our team environment. This simple method takes patience and discipline but works wonders. That's why I wanted to use it. I am using a journal (the hero's journal , highly recommend ) to take small steps forward and set achievable goals. I have incremental milestones I set and I map out ways to get there. I am on my way and even on my dark and down days I don't feel as behind and useless as I used to. I have big things coming up and small steps to get there.
All of us have goals and things we want to achieve or places we want to see ourselves in. The journey can look so intimidating, especially when we don't have a clear path. To quote one of my favorite authors:
It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step out onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.
J. R. R. Tolkien
We can keep our feet, we only need to see the path in front of us. Our goals are our compass to keep us moving in the right direction. It's all different legs in this adventure that directs us. Continuous improvement gives us bite sized goals and evaluating at each step to course correct as needed, heck sometimes that's how we find our direction needs to change. But we can do it. We can grow and find our happiness. I'm on my adventure. I hope you have yours.
