Meatball Marinara

Prep: 10 minutes Bake: 22-25 minutes

I’ve been wanting to make this for a while and while my sauce could use a bit work, this was great and a wonderful and filling lunch. Meatball sandwiches are just a lot of fun and not a lot of work, just waiting to make. This made about 1 serving, especially if your hoagie is much thicker than mine was. This uses my meatball recipe as well.

Ingredients

  • 1 hoagie

  • 6 meatballs

  • 1 tomato

  • 1 slice provolone cheese (2 if a bigger hoagie)

  • Red pepper flakes to taste

  • 2 tbls chopped onion

  • Italian herbs to taste

  • 2 tbls Olive Oil

  • 2 tsp flour

  • Optional: 1 tbls heavy cream and

Prep

  1. Prep the meatballs by mixing all ingredients together, balling the results and baking for 20-25 minutes

  2. Start a small ban on medium heat

  3. Chop your tomato and use a food processor if available to liquify the pieces

  4. Add the olive oil to the pan and add the tomato

  5. Add the onion and the herbs as desired

  6. Mix well and stir often while it heats and set to a simmer

  7. Add the flour (and heavy cream if desired) and mix well

  8. Allow to simmer and thicken

  9. Heat a pan with some butter to toast the hoagie if you do not have a toaster oven

  10. Add the meatballs to the hoagie, top with the sauce and provolone

Afterthoughts

This was delicious and a great lunch item. I enjoyed every bite and it paired well with some potato chips. The sandwich was nice and warm, and a little sloppy but hit the spot perfectly. This is easy to make into a platter for a party as well! You can slice the bread down to sliders and serve!
