Valentine's Special: Caramel Dark Chocolate Cookies

Prep: 5-10 minutes Bake 10-15 minutes

Cookies are so versatile and this is a fun way to make some. Unlike my dipped cookies, these use caramel candies and dark chocolate chips to create a caramel dark chocolate cookie. Sticky, sweet and amazing.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed down tight to get the right amount)

  • 1/2 cup softened butter

  • 1 egg

  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour

  • 3/4 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 bag of dark chocolate chips

  • As wanted of caramel chews, cut down to manageable sizes

Prep

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F (190 C)

  2. Add the butter, brown sugar and sugar into a bowl and mix together until creamy

  3. Add the egg and mix well

  4. Add the flour, baking powder, and baking soda in and mix until starting to hold it’s shape

  5. Add the chips and caramels and mix

  6. Chill for 20 minutes in fridge if you’d like to. I’m lazy and rarely do

  7. Prep a tray and ball cookie dough to add to tray

  8. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the edges start to brown

  9. Allow to cool

Afterthoughts

These were super tasty. The cookie dough has a richer taste with the brown sugar, and it pairs well with the caramel. The chews were super sticky and fun to eat. They did not melt in the oven as I feared. This is a great way to surprise yourself or loved ones for a bit more extra cookie.
