Crumbly Apple Pie

Prep: 20 minutes Bake: 25 to 30 minutes

I have messed with apples before but never tried as a pie. I spent today mocking this up in my head and finally put it to action. This uses a 9 inch pie pan. Serves 8 easily but less if you want more to yourself.

Ingredients

  • 2 pillsbury pie crusts

  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1-2 tbls cinnamon to taste

  • 1 stick butter

  • 5 honey crispy apples

Prep

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F (177 C)

  2. Slice all the apples to manageable sizes. I used a slicer tool

  3. Heat a cast iron or any skillet to a medium high heat

  4. Add the butter and allow to melt and brown

  5. Add the apples

  6. Add the brown sugar and cinnamon

  7. Mix well and heat through

  8. Cover and mix until soft all the way through

  9. Add first pie crust to the pie pan

  10. Prick the bottom lightly

  11. Fill with the apples

  12. Cover with the second pie crust

  13. Add some vents and decoration as desired

  14. Clean the edges as needed

  15. Bake for 25-30 minutes

Afterthoughts

This came out extremely crumbly and messy and was delicious warm. I enjoyed every bite and this was fast and easy to make. You can entertain castle this pie and serve quite a few. I did add too much of the butter mixture into the crust which didn't solidify and made the bottom too soggy but that is easily remedied. A fun and delicious pie.
